Linganore Poms

The LOUYAA Linganore Pom & Dance program is designed for children, Pre-K through 8th grade, to learn and perform choreography for halftime performances at LOUYAA Linganore youth football games.

Our program aims to build confidence through dance, and to foster a positive atmosphere of friendship and teamwork. Dancing is not only about the ability to perform a routine.  It is also about working hard as an individual and in a group. Working in a group may look simple from the outside, but it takes a lot of practice and coordination to appear as one. Our participants learn to work together, as a team, so on gameday, they can apply the skills and techniques they’ve learned at practice.

Some of the things your daughter can learn or develop by participating on a dance squad:

  • Strong character
  • Understanding of the benefits of hard work
  • Focus on fitness
  • Self confidence
  • Social skills

There are no try-outs required. Our only requirement is a commitment to participate at practices and performances.

Linganore Poms registration fee includes:

•      the use of a performance uniform

•      Linganore Bow and Breast Cancer Awareness Bow for October performances

•      Breast Cancer Awareness Socks for October performances

*A $125 uniform deposit check will be required at the time of uniform distribution. Your check will be returned/shredded upon the return of your uniform in a clean and reusable condition. Bows and socks are yours to keep.

Items that must be purchased separately:

•      Black compression shorts (Nike 3” or 4” compression shorts or equivalent. Often available at Dick’s, Kohl’s, Zappos)

•      Solid black leggings

•      No-show white socks

•      White leather cheer shoes

  •       Warm-weather uniform top (This only applies to people who do not attend camp. The warm-weather uniform top will be provided as part of the camp registration fee)

  • Practices for the Fall 2022 season will start on Tuesday 8/9.
  • Prior to school starting, practices will be held on Tuesday 8/9, Wednesday 8/10, and Thursday 8/11.
  • The week school starts there will only be practice on Thursday 8/18.
  • For the remainder of the season, practices will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the tennis courts/basketball courts behind NMES/NMMS.
  • Squads practice between 6:00pm and 8:00pm based on age group. The youngest girls practice from 6:00 to 7:15.
  • We ask all girls to arrive by 5:50, with a full and labeled water bottle, and wearing any kind of sneaker/athletic shoe that provides proper support for running and jumping.

Games take place on Saturdays or Sundays, starting in mid to late August, with the season ending by mid-November.
Each squad assembles to practice before their halftime performance, and then all dancers are free to leave after halftime or are welcome to stay and enjoy the game with their family.

We are always looking for volunteers to help. The success of our program depends on the participation of our volunteers. Please consider volunteering your time, talent or resources.
Fall 2022 Volunteer Opportunities include:

  • Coaches
  • Team Parents
  • Fundraising Coordinators (events and apparel sales, etc.)
  • Spirit Weekend Committee
  • Banquet Planning/Set Up Committee

CAMP 2022
LOUYAA LINGANORE POM & DANCE Camp August 1 – August 4 (Old National Pike Park)
This four-day dance camp offers participants the opportunity to learn new skills, increase flexibility, participate in group performances, make new friends or reconnect with old ones, all while having fun dancing outdoors. The Lancers Pom & Dance camp will allow your child to learn and practice choreography and dance technique paired with music. At camp, each dancer will receive instruction from members of the Linganore High School Pom & Dance Team, as well as attend yoga for flexibility sessions, taught by a certified youth yoga instructor.

Included in your cost is a camp shirt, which will also serve as the warm-weather uniform top for those joining us for the 2022 fall season, a Lancer Pom and Dance 2022 camp bag, materials to make a Lancer beaded bracelet, and a white shirt for our celebratory color-wars event.

On the last day of camp (8/4), the fun will culminate in a showcase performance where the girls perform for their family and friends, at 6:00pm, behind New Market Middle School. The showcase will be followed by light refreshments. While camp is not mandatory for participation in the season, it is a great way to get started. Participants learn a team dance as well as an all-poms group dance. Both dances will be performed at some point during the season.
