Update Dec. 13, 2020

We apologize for not being able to offer a basketball league this year. Unfortunately due to COVID we just don't have access to gym space required to make a league work. However there is an opportunity for a modified basketball league!

John Alexander is the founder of Global Squad/Alexander Basketball Academy. John recently got his own training facility (in Mt. Airy past Health Unlimited and by Mt. Airy Collision Center) and has offered to run a 3 on 3 league partnered with LOUYAA beginning in January. John trains boys and girls who want to improve their basketball skills as well as travels overseas to run basketball camps/clinics and recruit for his summer basketball program, Global Squad.

The 3 on 3 league we are offering will have 4 leagues:
5th/6th grade girls, 5th/6th grade boys, 7th/8th grade girls and 7th/8th grade boys

I apologize that we aren't offering for other age groups, but because of space and a fixed hoop height we were unable to offer for any boys or girls that are younger.

The 3 v 3 league will include:

·  Weekend clinic & player evaluation (Saturday 1/9)

o NBA & NCAA trainers

o USA Gold Certified Coaches

o Vertimax Certified Athletic trainers

·  10 games - including playoffs

·  Barring any setbacks - the start date of games will be 1/16 and will run approximately 6 weeks every Saturday. Possibility of Friday evening and Sunday morning games on an as needed basis

·  Reversible game jersey

·  LOUYAA players will also get a "Partnership" discount for training with Alexander Basketball Academy (ABA)

o Website: https://globalsquad.org/training/

To maintain safety due to COVID we are NOT allowing spectators in the gym to watch, HOWEVER, I am not saying this is 100% but John and I are fairly confident that we will be able to set up a tent in the parking lot with a screen/TV so that all games can be live streamed so you can still watch your son/daughter play. There will also be a possibility of a food truck being stationed here each game day as well.

Registration will close on 12/29 that way we have ample time to create the schedule and make any necessary changes due to enrollment numbers. There is a soft cap of 200 total participants, but there might be a little bit of flexibility with that number, but if we must stick to that 200, it will be on a first come first serve basis.

I know this isn't ideal, however with everything going on we are excited just to be able to offer something to those interested in playing some basketball. I apologize again that we are only able to accommodate certain age groups, and believe me when I say I sympathize with you, my 7 year old is itching to get back to playing basketball again. But these are the times we live in and appreciate your understanding.

Please contact Eric at [email protected] with any questions.
