SPRING SOFTBALL

LOUYAA Softball is a recreational program available to girls ages 7-16. Our continuing goal is to ensure the program provides an outstanding opportunity for area girls to play and learn about softball in a fun, engaging environment.

Our program emphasizes learning, fun and sportsmanship – our Spring season runs from Mid-March to early June and our Fall season runs from late August to the end of October. We partner with other local organizations for our intramural level fastpitch program and also with the Frederick County Girls Softball League (FCGSL).

Players are divided by age groups that keep the instruction and competition matched to the appropriate physical maturity and skill development of the players. Our program offers 8 and Under (8U), 10 and Under (10U), 12 and Under (12U) and 15/16 and Under (15U) with games at our “home” fields located at Windsor Knolls Middle School.

SPRING 2024
Spring practices get underway as weather allows in mid/late March.

Games to start at the beginning of April and will finish prior to end of school year.  Playoffs for the U10, U12 and U16 groups will be the first few weeks of June.

Our 8U program is a Coach pitch, developmental league focused on building fundamentals in a non-competitive environment.

Our 10U program provides the 1st opportunity for kids to begin using new softball skills - specifically pitching - in a modified kid pitch instructional and competitive setting.

Our 12U program is the culmination of the Softball league experience where all softball skills can be utilized and displayed.

Our 15/16U program introduces the complete "true" softball experience with games played against competition across the Frederick County.  16 year olds may play 15U as long as they do not play Travel Softball or play for a high school team.

For planning purposes for our primary Spring Season, we try to target particular practice/game days for the various age groups:
Wed/Sat for 8U
Tu/Fri for 10U
M/W for 12U
Sun/Th for 16U
Specific schedules are determined with coaches as the season arrives.

As Coordinator, my continuing goal is to ensure the program provides an outstanding opportunity for area girls to play and learn about softball in a fun, engaging environment. While studies show organized youth sports provide notable benefits ranging from health to self-esteem and friendship, we certainly also know this is a game to be enjoyed by all. In this positive atmosphere, governed by our Code of Conduct, the players and the program will continue to thrive. Indeed, friends made on the diamond can be some of the most important connections they will have. The same can be said for the valuable family and community connections.

I would like to extend an invitation for each of you to decide how you can get involved with our program and nurture this “love of the game.” As a community volunteer program, we’ll need help from everyone. There are plenty of great opportunities to lend a hand and apply your skills and interests whether it includes helping out with practices, team coordination, fund raising, concessions, field maintenance, equipment, finding sponsors, and many more contributions to a successful season and a healthy program.

COACHING OPPORTUNITIES
LOUYAA Softball is 100% based on volunteer coordinators and coaches, and relies on our parents to make each and every season a success.  If you are interested in becoming a volunteer coach for one of our teams, please choose a volunteer position when registering your child.

Please contact me with any questions, concerns and suggestions, as we get ready to launch another great season of softball here in LOUYAA!
