SPRING 2022

LOUYAA Spring Golf is the perfect starting point for Junior Golf in Frederick.

The LOUYAA golf program will run for 7 weeks, beginning on April 14, 2021, on Thursdays from 5:00 pm-6:00 pm.   This program is Instructional based, and open to boys and girls of all skill levels from ages 9 to 18.  The program is set up to teach all the facets of the game, along with the etiquette, and basic rules.  Most of the sessions will be conducted on the practice facility at The Links of Challedon golf club, but as the kids progress each week, they will have the opportunity to move onto the course to see how the game is played. Clinic space is limited so please sign up quickly!

*As the Thursday Class filled quickly, a second class Saturday afternoons has opened, beginning April 16th for 7 weeks, from 4:00-5:00 pm

Marcus Macon, PGA, currently the Head Golf Professional at Four Streams Country Club, is constantly growing the young golfers in the Frederick area. Chairing the LOUYAA Golf, and having coached the Oakdale bears for five seasons are just two of the ways he is active within the Frederick Golf Community.

With expanding and competitive programs like the State Champion Oakdale Bears, and State Champion Urbana Hawks it is key to get your child started before the high school years. Creating that golfer in your junior will be key to having an impact in such a competitive area. Additionally, Marcus believes that golf is a game for everyone and launching the game early will enhance skills and improve enjoyment for years to come regardless of if they choose to play golf competitively.

His main goals in our program in addition to teaching golf skills and preparing them for high school golf is to:

1.       Make it as fun as possible- He will incorporate a competitive spirit by conducting fun games and activities into all the clinics. This rewards the student constantly for passionate participation and success.

2.       Keep everyone safe- The player to instruction ration is ten to one or better. Safety instructions and rules are always addressed prior to all clinic and always reinforced.

3.       Instill good values and core competencies- Golf is an amazing segue in learning skills that overlap into everyday life, college, and careers. LOUYAA golf prides itself on instilling honesty, integrity, and respect within all its clinics.

In addition to being a starting point for competitive junior golf. LOUYAA golf is a player pathway to many avenues in golf such as the PGA Junior League, Drive Chip & Putt Championship, partnerships with in-state & national qualifying events, instructional camps & clinics and much more. Additionally, Marcus can serve as your liaison to college golf with a vast array of counseling opportunities and programs.

Ideally your son or daughter will need his or her own equipment. A full complement is not needed. If you do not have equipment, Marcus can help provide you with equipment as needed and recommend options for a future purchase. Dress code is important.  Golf Shirts, shorts, or slacks for the boys. Skirts, skorts, slacks and a golf shirt for the girls are appropriate. Golf shoes are great but not a requirement. Sneakers are fine to participate in the clinic.

Most importantly Marcus encourages any parent or guardian to join the players on the course and spectate. This simulates pressure during playing conditions.

As always please let Marcus know how he can help in any way feel by emailing him. We all look forward to another great year of golf.
