LOUYAA Field Hockey
Fall 2023

We are pleased to announce the LOUYAA’s Frederick Field Hockey program will have two options of play this fall.  There will be a fundamentals clinic for kindergarten through 2nd graders and our 3rd graders through 8th graders will be participating in the MYFHL Recreation division.

 Maryland Youth Field Hockey League (MYFHL)- Registration must close on July 8th due to new uniform ordering deadlines!
LOUYAA will be participating in the long-established Maryland Youth Field Hockey League this fall.  Practices will be twice a week, with games on Sundays at fields in neighboring Carroll, Howard and Baltimore Counties. 

 MYFHL played “A” and “B” divisions last season for the 5/6 and 7/8 levels. Depending on the number of teams per age level, we may hold evaluations prior to the season beginning in late August.  Once registration is complete, we will determine if an evaluation is required for proper division placement.

Uniforms:
As stated in the fall 2022 season, our league is getting brand new uniforms for fall 2023.  These uniforms you purchase will be used in following years.
We will be having a UNIFORM FITTING scheduled end of June *more info to follow once registered.

FUNdamentals Clinic (Kindergarten - 2nd Grade)
We will be offering a kindergarten, first and second grade clinic this fall.  Practice will be once a week on a local (Frederick County) field and there will be no games.  This is the ideal choice for first-time players in this age group to learn basic field hockey skills.  Second graders will be evaluated based on their skill set and may advance to play on a team. 

K-2 Clinic Fees
LOUYAA Registration Fee: $75
No uniform required

Dates
Practice: 7 weeks (Approx week of September 9 – week of October 21)

Equipment Required to Play on Team (3rd - 8th grade)
Field hockey stick
Shin guards (white/black reversible or hard plastic shin guards with white & black shin guard socks/sleeves)
Mouth guard (any color but clear)
Field Hockey Goggles are not required but may be worn

Equipment Required for FUNdamentals (K-2)
Field hockey stick
Shin guards
Mouth guard (any color but clear)

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Coaches / Assistant Coaches / Team Managers
LOUYAA is a non-profit organization with unpaid parent volunteers as coaches.  You do not need have to field hockey experience to become a coach, but it is helpful.  Please consider volunteering your time to coach this fall.  We will provide training.  As the program expands, we need more parent volunteers to help out.

Practice days of the week are established by our volunteer coaches prior to the start of the season based on their schedules of availability.
